excellent post Flesh.
As for the violence I think some of the comments on the Bad Concious piece were well thought out even if the post belongs in Pseuds Corner. If your freedoms and liberties have been taken away or are directly threatened I can see an argument for violent protest. In a representative democracy with a reasonable degree of free speech I don’t see how this can be justified in other cases. Interestingly in the very long second post the examples used to show how violence can be justified seem to demonstrate how extreme the actions of the state would need to be for it to be a legitimate course of action.
I think I can see Aaron Porter’s point about sector led regulation, don’t think the PCC is very good and this is basically run by the newspapers.
It does seem that AP has accepted that education will now be a consumer transaction and wants to move onto how deal with that reality. I wonder what the NUS are really protesting for then, is it helping with political careers?
That’s probably enough from me any longer and I should write about it myself.
